HySecunda contributes to the 3rd German-African Green Hydrogen Forum in Bernburg
On September 23–24, 2025, the 3rd German-African Green Hydrogen Forum took place at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Bernburg (Saale), bringing together stakeholders from Germany and Africa to discuss the development of a sustainable green hydrogen economy.
Following this insightful and inspiring international conference at the Hochschule Anhalt, University of Applied Sciences campus in Bernburg-Strenzfeld, it is clear that the gathering – featuring delegates primarily from Namibia as well as Ghana, Kenya, and Morocco – was driven by a strong commitment to advancing green hydrogen.
While there is still some uncertainty in Germany, the confidence and recognition of the need for decarbonization and for scaling up green-hydrogen derivatives are strikingly evident among our African partners. Excellent presentations and discussions provided valuable perspectives and strengthened the dialogue between researchers from both continents in a very pleasant and perfectly organized setting.
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft was represented by three institutes of the HySecunda consortium – Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS, Fraunhofer-Institut für Windenergiesysteme ,(Telsche Nielsen) and Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC (Jürgen Meinhardt) – which presented a successful interim report on their accompanying research.
In addition, Klemens Ilse delivered an insightful overview of the current state of the electrolyzer industry.
Special thanks go to Hochschule Anhalt, represented by Markus Holz, for their outstanding hospitality and the excellently organized event.
